Spectrum Camera Solutions at ISC West 2026: Explosion-Proof Cameras Built for the Toughest Environments

Spectrum camera solutions at isc west explosion proof cameras built for the toughest environments

Summary: At ISC West 2026, Spectrum Camera Solutions demonstrated their latest explosion-proof camera systems designed for industrial and hazardous environments, including the new D-Series cameras, a 29-megapixel panoramic explosion-proof camera, Class 1 Division 1 Starlink connectivity solutions, and a new solar skid with a 20-foot mast for rapid deployment in turnarounds and permanent installations. Built for environments where traditional cameras simply cannot operate, Spectrum’s systems are designed to install in minutes and are available for purchase, lease, or rental, making them accessible for both permanent and temporary deployments.

Not every facility fits the mold of a standard security deployment. Oil refineries, chemical plants, manufacturing floors, and other industrial environments present a set of challenges that off-the-shelf camera systems are not built to handle. Hazardous atmospheres, extreme conditions, remote locations with limited infrastructure, and the need to get cameras operational quickly all demand a different approach.

Spectrum Camera Solutions, based out of Houston, Texas, has built their entire product line around exactly those environments. At ISC West 2026, they brought a full display of their latest systems to the show, and the range of what they have developed is worth a close look for anyone managing security or safety programs in industrial or manufacturing settings.

Built for Hazardous Areas, Designed for Fast Deployment

The core value proposition that Spectrum leads with is straightforward: explosion-proof cameras that can be installed in most cases within five minutes. For facilities that need to get cameras up quickly during a turnaround, a planned maintenance window, or an unplanned operational event, that installation speed is a meaningful operational advantage.

Spectrum also offers flexible acquisition options. Their systems are available for outright purchase, lease, or rental, which opens the door for organizations that need coverage for a temporary project or a specific operational period without committing to a permanent capital investment. For turnarounds and short-term industrial projects in particular, the rental option alone addresses a gap that many facilities have struggled to fill.

The F-Series and the New D-Series

Spectrum’s F-Series established their foundation in Class 1 Division 1 environments with both Wi-Fi and 4G and 5G connectivity. Building on that, they introduced the new D-Series at ISC West 2026, which extends connectivity to include private LTE readiness alongside 4G, 5G, and Wi-Fi. The D-Series carries Class 1 Division 1, IECEx, and ATEX Zone 1 certifications, making it suitable for deployment across international hazardous area standards in addition to North American classifications.

For organizations operating across multiple regions or facilities with varying certification requirements, the D-Series addresses that complexity in a single platform.

The Rapid Deploy Tripod System

Spectrum showcased a new 10-foot rapid deploy tripod system designed to get cameras positioned and operational without the time and infrastructure requirements of a traditional fixed mount installation. The tripod setup supports a range of hardware including:

  • Two-way audio speaker with wireless capability and fiber optic support
  • Radiometric thermal camera rated for Zone 1 hazardous environments
  • Optical camera for standard visible light coverage
  • Class 1 Division 1 card reader station for access control integration at the deployment point

The combination of thermal and optical imaging on a single deployable platform gives security and safety teams both intrusion detection and temperature monitoring capability in environments where both are frequently required.

29-Megapixel Explosion-Proof Panoramic Camera

One of the standout hardware announcements at the show was Spectrum’s new 29-megapixel explosion-proof panoramic camera. For large industrial spaces, tank farms, open process areas, and other wide-coverage environments, a single panoramic unit at that resolution provides a level of detail and situational awareness that would otherwise require multiple fixed cameras to achieve. Paired with the Class 1 Division 1 rating, it brings high-resolution panoramic coverage to environments where it has historically not been available.

Starlink Connectivity for Hazardous and Remote Locations

Getting reliable connectivity to cameras in remote or infrastructure-limited industrial locations is one of the most persistent challenges in industrial security. Spectrum has addressed this directly with their Starlink line, which brings satellite connectivity to hazardous area deployments in three configurations:

  • Class 1 Division 1 Starlink Mini for hazardous locations requiring the highest level of explosion-proof certification
  • Class 1 Division 2 Starlink Performance for environments with the Division 2 classification standard
  • Starlink Standard for rapid deployment in hazardous areas where standard satellite connectivity meets the requirements

For facilities in remote locations, offshore environments, or sites where running network infrastructure to camera locations is not practical, the Starlink line removes the connectivity barrier entirely.

Class 1 Division 2 Solar Skid

Rounding out the ISC West display was Spectrum’s new Class 1 Division 2 Solar Skid, featuring a 20-foot mast and designed for both turnaround deployments and permanent installations. The solar-powered platform eliminates the need for external power infrastructure at the deployment site, which is a significant consideration in remote or hard-to-reach industrial locations. The 20-foot mast provides elevated positioning for improved field of view across large or complex site layouts.

What This Means for Industrial and Manufacturing Security Programs

What Spectrum Camera Solutions demonstrated at ISC West 2026 is a product line that has been built from the ground up for the environments that most security vendors do not fully address. The combination of explosion-proof certifications, rapid deployment capability, flexible acquisition options, satellite connectivity, and solar power infrastructure makes their systems viable for a much wider range of industrial deployments than traditional camera solutions.

For organizations in oil and gas, chemical processing, manufacturing, and other hazardous industries that have struggled to justify or execute camera deployments in difficult environments, Spectrum’s approach to both the technology and the business model is worth a serious conversation.
