Structured Cabling and Security Infrastructure for a 30,150-Square-Foot Research Facility in Katy, Texas

TSRC Specialty Materials LLC established its global research and development center in Katy, Texas, bringing advanced engineering laboratories and office space together in an environment designed to support research, collaboration, and product development.

As TSRC’s first global R&D center outside Taiwan, the facility required a strong technology foundation to keep researchers and employees connected while supporting the security and reliability needs of a modern laboratory environment.

NCS provided the structured cabling and physical security infrastructure supporting the 30,150-square-foot facility.

Building the Network Foundation

NCS installed a fully integrated CommScope fiber backbone with 196 point-to-point links, creating the connectivity foundation for TSRC’s laboratory, office, and collaborative spaces.

Within the facility’s telecommunications infrastructure, NCS incorporated APC by Schneider Electric NetShelter SV racks and Smart-UPS systems with SmartConnect, along with power distribution and cable management solutions. The equipment provides an organized environment for critical network components while adding power protection to help maintain network availability.

NCS also installed HDMI cabling and a display mount in the R&D conference room to support presentations and collaboration.

Securing the Facility

In addition to the network infrastructure, NCS deployed an integrated physical security solution throughout the facility.

The security scope included:

• 10 Hanwha Vision DVR and IP surveillance cameras
• Three LenelS2 access control card readers
• Supporting security infrastructure for facility monitoring and controlled access

Together, the video surveillance and access control systems provide greater visibility into the facility while helping TSRC manage access to its research and office environments.
