POWER OVER ETHERNET (POE) LIGHTING: DIGITAL BUILDING TECHNOLOGY AND IP CONVERGENCE

Poe lighting

NCS is proud to announce we are now a registered Continuing Education System (CES) Provider by the American Institute of Architects (AIA). At this time, NCS offers 1 AIA LU/HSW presentation – “Power over Ethernet (PoE) Lighting: Digital Building Technology and IP Convergence.” We’re excited to provide lunch and learn opportunities for building-industry professionals looking to stay at the top of their field.

About this Course

This course will give an overview of Power Over Ethernet (PoE) lighting and how this digital building technology has become a part of the IP convergence into the “intelligent” building. Migration of IEEE 802.3 PoE standards will be discussed and related to PoE lighting’s adaptation to this network standard versus using proprietary technologies. As an overlay to the PoE lighting network, a “sensor” network will be discussed and shown how it can be utilized for energy savings, environmental control, safety notifications, and health benefits.

Learning Objectives

Learning Objective 1:
To educate the audience on the primary components that comprise the PoE lighting network.

Learning Objective 2:
To educate the audience on the PoE lighting network as another step for IP convergence in the development of intelligent building technologies.

Learning Objective 3:
To understand why the lighting market continues to transition to LED’s and how PoE lighting fits into this trend.

Learning Objective 4:
To understand when PoE implementation makes sense and the hurdles and concerns that exist in the marketplace for consideration of this new technology
